As we approached Lariena's work anniversary with the team this year, we wanted to share with you how she got started with the company, why she loves it and has stayed so long, and what she enjoys doing when she isn't working! How did you start working with MSYS? Fran (my mom and MSYS's CEO) put me to work to keep me from being a “bored teenager” over the summer. It seemed lame at the time, but I gained a lot of valuable skills and I learned MSYS from the ground floor up.
How is it working with your family/at a family company? I enjoy working with my family. Even the employees who aren’t technically related to us feel like family because we adore them and have been together for so long. Some people might think it would be difficult to work with your family, but I love that I get to talk to my family every day and it’s a breeze to work together when all of you are brilliant and there is respect for each other.
What is the best part of your job? The most rewarding part of my job is the impact I have on hundreds of people by helping our clients. Small businesses are the backbone of America and it is vital that we support our small businesses.
What is one thing you want your clients to know about you? I consider all of our clients part of our family. I always want them to be successful. I want their families and their employees to all have amazing lives. I believe that the key to unlocking that is for their business to thrive.
What fun things do you do in your free time? In my free time I enjoy singing and dancing on stage–in musical theater productions. I also enjoy reading, being in the water, and geeking out about beauty products. I won’t say that I particularly enjoy DIY projects… but I do spend a lot of my free time on DIY projects in our house and backyard because I am thrifty!
